“National Sustainable Development Week” Initiative
Since 2015, the “National Sustainable Development Week” initiative has been launched and implemented annually in conjunction with the celebration of “World Environment Day”. Since its commencement, the initiative has been under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Egypt.
The initiative aims to identify key priority issues, establish a conceptual framework for them and provide comprehensive discussions that integrate all aspects of sustainability. Throughout the week, these issues are discussed with the participation of representatives from all partnering stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, specialists, academics and experts, as well as environmental media professionals and sectors focused on youth and women. These discussions lead up to a set of important recommendations that are presented later to policymakers and decision-makers.
The “National Sustainable Development Week” initiative is one of the first civil initiatives to contribute to a sustainable vision for addressing the most critical issues and priority areas on the national development agenda.
