Launch of the Second Phase of the “Education for Sustainable Development” Program in 23 Schools
As part of its commitment to promoting the principles of Education for Sustainable Development, the Egyptian Sustainable Development Forum (ESDF) has continued implementing activities aimed at advancing this goal. In collaboration with the Ministries of Education and Environment, ESDF launched the second phase of the “Education for Sustainable Development” program in 23 schools across various educational districts in Cairo Governorate. This expansion follows the Ministry of Education’s approval to double the number of participating schools, adding 11 new institutions to the program.
The program includes a series of awareness-raising activities designed to deepen understanding of Education for Sustainable Development concepts, alongside hands-on activities involving student participation to foster awareness of positive environmental behaviors. These activities focus particularly on areas such as solid waste management and the rational use of water and electricity. The program also aims to engage students in specialized workshops addressing priority environmental issues and national environmental initiatives, including the “Live Green” campaign, the “No to Single-Use Plastics” initiative and the “100 Million Trees” campaign.
The second phase of the program began with a visit to Ahmed Lotfy Preparatory School for Girls under the El-Zawya El-Hamra Educational District. The visit featured an awareness session with a group of students, as well as discussions with school administrators regarding the proposed implementation plan for the upcoming period of the academic year.
